This course explores the complexity of the English primary school curriculum and examines the integrated nature of language and the curriculum development process.

  About this Course  
  What does the course involve?  
The format for a Hibernia College Online Summer Course is as follows: 
  • 5 fully interactive lessons complete with audio, links and exercises to complete
  • A moderated discussion forum to answer course-related questions, share you experiences with your teaching colleagues and communicate with your facilitator
  • Reflective Learning Log where you reflect on your understanding of the course and how you will use it in your day to day teaching
  • Completion of a course gives 3 EPV Days.  Your individual entitlement for EPV days should be checked with the DES.
  • A course is expected to take 20 hours to complete
  • Each course has a facilitator who will be in contact with you regularly and whom you can contact by email with any queries before or during the course

Paddy Carroll

Paddy is a retired Primary School Principal. He has a Masters of Education UL (1st class honours in Information and Communication Technology).
He is involved with:
INTO and NCTE -- tutoring teachers in ICT.
Department of Education and Science -- training School Principals and Secretaries in OLCS.
Hibernia College -- Student supervision, Tutor for English and Maths Teaching Methodologies and Classroom Management.

Margaret Rossiter is principal of a 10 teacher mixed school in Horeswood, Campile, Co. Wexford. She has worked extensively in teacher inservice as a trainer first for the R.S.E. Programme and then with the Primary Curriculum Support Programme as a trainer in English, Visual Arts & SPHE. From 2002-2004 she was an Assistant National Coordinator with PCSP with responsibility for English, Learning Support & training of P.E. trainers.
